Earth Hour ‘Beyond the Hour Race’

A collaboration race towards awareness of better environment and sustainability living.

Earth Hour 2011, the annual ‘Lights Out’ event, will take place on Saturday 26 March 2011 at 8:30pm. By the launched of Beyond The Hour platform recently, Earth Hour team in Brunei are in collaboration with HSBC Brunei to further promote Earth Hour.

We are creating a fun race to help the public to be aware and to understand Earth Hour initiatives, and what Beyond The Hour is all about. We hope the public will move beyond the global lights-out event to inspire, capture and share environmental actions year-round.

The objective of this race is very simple. We would like to raise awareness about better environment and sustainability living on the public’s perspective. We want everyone to get involved and have the sense of belonging of their own contribution to the planet. These stories, their stories; will be leverage to Beyond the Hour platform, and hopefully will be shared, inspire, and pickup for others to do the same.

The interested participants need to register online on our website www.earthhour.org.bn. Each participants will be given some tasks and required to complete each task to move on to another task. The 20 finalist will be considered as winners.

The race will also showcase various agencies who are participating during Earth Hour; HSBC, Energy Division Prime Ministers’ Office, Orchid Garden Hotel, Brunei Shell Petroleum, to name a few.

We hope the fun race will inspired others to share their stories by going beyond the hour. Earth Hour 2011 will ask individuals, businesses and governments the world over to add more to the annual switch off by showcasing how they are taking action to preserve their environment.
